Today’s Minute Meditation:
Don’t you know yet? It is your light that lights the world. – Rumi
Let’s Take A Minute To Explore These Words:
I’ve decided to add something new to my site and share my favorite quotes! For several years, I’ve collected my favorite quotes in my private journals. I’ve been in love with language and words for as long as I can remember. When I find a quote that touches me, I always have to write it down! I recently realized that I shouldn’t keep what I love hidden away. I should share it…
I’m calling these quotes “Minute Meditations” because they give me time to pause in the morning and center my mind. I like taking a few moments to quiet all the complaints, worries, and judgements that are constantly chattering away in my mind. If I’m being honest, I could drown in all my anxieties and negative thought patterns. I need these quick meditations on a daily (maybe even hourly) basis!
The meditations give me a chance to pause and think on a much deeper (and more authentic!) level, and ask bigger questions like:
- What is actually true for me today?
- What really matters right now?
- What is the ultimate purpose of my day?
So for my first Minute Meditation…
The quote I’m sharing today is one of my favorite quotes of all time, written by one of my favorite poets of all time.
In this quote, Rumi reminds you directly that you are the creator or your world and your life experience. It often feels like society or the government or global events (or other outside forces) determine what happens in this world. But the fact is, you direct your life experience with your focus, thoughts, words, and actions.
Think about areas of your life that seem lacking. Maybe you’d like better health, more money, better relationships, more fulfilling work, etc. To experience those things, you can’t go searching for them in the world and you can’t ask others to create them for you. You have to be those things – in the thoughts you think and the actions you take.
